Flexifoil Proton Kite Only 2010/11

Available Options:
£499.99 to £819.99
Description

New for 2010/11, and designed from the ground up, the Flexifoil Proton has been optimised to be the ideal kite for beginners to take to the water and stick with as their skills improve. The Flexifoil Proton kite is forgiving to the newcomer on the beach but won’t hold you back as you quickly improve your skills. Designed using the proven Atom/Neutron aerofoil but with more swept back wingtips, a lower aspect ratio and new construction methods, the Flexifol Proton kite is perfect for learning on and won’t hold you back whether freeriding, freestyling or wave riding.

The Flexifoil Proton has been developed using the same kite technologies created through working with the world’s best riders, such as 5 times PKRA World Freestyle Champion Aaron Hadlow and many of the design techniques used to max out the high performance Flexifoil Hadlow Pro Kite have been utilised during the development of the Flexifoil Proton.

Overall the Flexifol Proton is an exceptional all-rounder, offering sharp depower and snappy turning, great for wave riding, as well as predictable and stable flying characteristics making it an all-star free-riding performer. The Proton is the easiest relaunch kite Flexifoil have ever made and the natural nose-up position of the kite offers stability and assurance in the sky. For beginners and advanced riders alike, the Flexifoil Proton demands a place in your quiver.

Technical Features and Benefits...

  • Rock solid stability: The aerofoil on the Flexifoil Proton will naturally “nose up” which helps make the Proton a very stable kite that will not fall from the sky unexpectedly. A great confidence booster for beginners.
  • Direct and fast turning: The hybrid design delivers a progressive, predictable feel throughout the whole turn. The feedback you get through the bar enables you to know exactly what the kite is doing at all times, so you can concentrate on riding. Boost with smooth predictable float The powerful profile together with moderate aspect ratio plan-form, provides a well balanced bar pressure which makes the kite forgiving and easy to feel – getting jumps dialled is simple. Within its normal wind range sending the kite results in big jumps with outstanding float.
  • Freestyle, freeride or wave riding: The Flexifoil Proton kite works great for freestyle tricks due to its solid power. It has great depower and snappy turning, making the kite great in the waves, and has numerous safety options available for the beginner and intermediate rider. The Flexifoil Proton delivers a great ride whether you’re into freestyle, freeride or wave-riding.
  • Simplicity through design: Flexifoil kites have always kept bridling to a minimum for simplicity and to maximise the direct feel feedback through the bar. The bridle is so well balanced, the 2 quality Riley pulleys actually hardly need to move so you will not experience problems with wear. A simple and reliable EZ pump single inflation point system and colour coordinated and error proof line connection system make setting up and packing down as quick, easy and safe as possible.
  • Setup Options, 20m or 22.5m / 4-line or 5-line: The standard setup for the Proton is 4-Line mode with 20m+2.5m Lines. Removing the 2.5m Line Extensions gives you an even snappier kite that some riders prefer for waveriding. There is a 5th line kit available for the Proton for riders who want an even higher degree of safety that the 5th line system offers.
  • Safety First: The Flexifoil Proton primary release is simple to use and dependable. The system kills 90% of the power in one fast action. The kite comes down at the edge of the window ready for relaunch. This is a proven safety system which is used on all other Flexifoil water kites. We believe that it’s the best system available on the market for ease of use, reliability, and ease of re-assembly.

Construction Technology...

Excellent build quality is at the heart of Flexifoil’s core values. They want their customers to be confident that whether they change kites every year or ride them into the ground, a Flexifoil kite is going to give them the best value for money with performance that won’t hold them back.

  • Quality built-in: The leading edge tube is made from Dimension Polyant 175gm Dacron. This is the most expensive Dacron on the market, and testing has shown it is more stable (lowest bias deformation), most durable (the resin keeps the fibres bonded together longer, and the yarns have highest breaking strength, so has the best tear strength). By using this fabric it produces the most accurate Leading edge when compared to the designed shape, which helps keep the kites performance over its life time, (crashing in the water with inferior Dacron’s can lead to stretching of the fibres and deforming kites with reduced flight performance).
  • Leading Edge Construction: The new Flexifoil Leading Edge construction has surpassed previous inflation pressure test results by almost 40% and has passed all the durability and crash tests in the harsh Sahara Desert environment. The Flexifoil Proton is made with all the top quality materials and construction methods Flexifoil are using on all their kites this year. Strong enough for a World Champion and strong enough for even the worst beginners!
  • Rigid Strut System: Flexifoil have developed a new strut design for all kites this year. The new construction is stronger, more accurate and neater than ever before. This contributes to the rigid feel and excellent bar feedback.
  • Dacron Cage: The kite is protected by Dacron reinforcement strips. These strips run from wingtip to wingtip along the leading edge, trailing edge and down the struts. Dacron is only placed on areas of the kite that need them, providing strength to high stress and wearable areas of the kite.
  • Leading Edge Reinforcements: A unique new Kevlar / Neoprene reinforcement patch material has been used this year to protect every circumferential Leading Edge seam. In addition to this there are wear patches on any potential wear point near the toggles. When your kite does come into contact with the beach, you can rest assured Flexifoil have put the toughest material to take the scrapes!
  • Intelligent Aerofoil Design: The Flexifoil Proton’s aerofoil is designed to provide powerful boost, good low-end performance, lots of depower and make the kite resistant to back-stalling by using an aerofoil that will naturally “nose-up” when the lines go slack.
  • Anti-flutter Battens: Tough, durable battens are positioned into the trailing edge near the wingtips. These are reinforced with Dacron, and create a stiffer trailing edge with clean release for turbulent air. This reduces drag and provides an increased turn speed. The battens are as small as possible to reduce weight and made from an unbreakable plastic not glass fibre.
  • Uniform Pressure Design: The strut diameters have been designed in conjunction with the leading edge diameter to ensure adequate stiffness throughout the kite. The struts and leading edge maintain a uniform pressure which gives the kite a rigid structure for maximum aerodynamic performance.
  • Molten Bladder Technology: Flexifoil is continuing the use of improved bladder welding techniques to water kites. The new welding process has been tested up to a sweltering 120°C to make sure it will stand up to extreme conditions felt in all the world’s hottest kitesurf locations.
  • Single Point ‘E-Z’ Inflation: All the struts and the leading edge are interconnected so you can inflate the kite through one single inflation valve, making your kite quick and easy to set up and ride. Attached to the leading edge are ‘inflate’ and ‘deflate’ valves making the kite easy to set up and pack down.
  • Optional 5th-Line Attachment: For riders who prefer to ride using a 5th line system for added safety and self-landing, there is an optional 5th line available. This item can be ordered separately: please contact us by telephone or email. The 5th line is to be used in conjunction with the bridle, not separately.
  • Colour coded lines: All Flexifoil Proton kites are supplied with colour-coded lines and toggles to ensure that mistakes are not made during set up. The ‘toggle and loop’ system means that it is near impossible to make a mistake of connecting your front lines to the back toggles or vice versa.
  • Reinforced Strut Ends: Rugged strut ends made with an anti-abrasive material help protect the struts when handling the kite. The enlarged strut tips also make for an easier bladder replacement process.
  • Wingtip Dump Valve: Flexifoil were the first company to introduce this feature which makes it quick to deflate and roll up the kite after a session. Open the tip valve, main valves and air clamps and then roll up the kite from one end to the other. The air is expelled in one motion and leaves the kite ready to pack away.
