The Flexifoil Ion 5 delivers fast, positive and progressive steering, enabling you to turn quickly into jumps with constant strength, power and lift, and giving great hangtime and the freedom in the air to excel beyond what you thought possible.

The Ion fits naturally onto Flexifoil's well established bar system, delivering just the right amount of bar pressure and feedback and giving you exceptional control and feel of the kite throughout your ride. 4 or 5 line options on the bar give you two differing configurations (freeride and freestyle) to suit your riding style and local conditions.

Technical Features and Benefits...

• 6 Strut Layout: The new Flexifoil Ion 5 features a 6 strut layout with a refined aerofoil shape, giving extra support between the leading edge and trailing edge and keeping feedback from the kite direct through the lines and to the bar. The centre of the kite is the most important part for generating power, and a 6 strut layout pattern has a marked impact on the efficiency of the aerofoil by keeping the central section strut free. Power generation is much more efficient and the kite has a more direct feel - this direct feel enables you to instinctively feel how the kite is reacting and where it is in the sky.
• Optimised Leading Edge Tube: Fine tuning the Leading Edge proportions from the centre to the tips is a fine balance between rigidity, stability, relaunch, agility, upwind ability and weight. The Flexifoil Ion 5 is honed to perfection. The stiffened leading edge increases structural stability whilst still remaining aerodynamically efficiency and limits deformation to give better gust control and a direct, solid feel.
• Simplified Bridle System: Minimal pulleys and bridles help maximise the direct feel of the Flexifoil Ion 5 and minimise the maintenance. A perfectly balanced bridle means the pulley hardly needs to move at all and multiple front and rear line connection points let you tune the kite to particular riding styles and weather conditions.
• Anti Flutter Trailing Edge Battens: The battens eliminate resonant frequency vibrations that can occur as the trailing edge changes shape during turning and avoid any unnecessary drag or turbulence, resulting in a smoother, more predictable ride.
• EZ Single Point Inflation system: Allows the entire kite to be inflated from the leading edge valve for super fast and convenient set-up. The new Flexifoil Ion 5 also features a new dump valve on each wing tip means you can roll the kite in either direction at the end of a session.

Using premium Teijin T9600 canopy fabric for longevity and UV protection, Dimensions Polyant Dacron® for the perfect balance between stability and stiffness on the Leading Edge, and Kevlar-Neoprene reinforcement patches over every circumferential seam designed to protect against the harshest beach environments, the Flexifoil Ion 5 is a premium quality kite offering robustness and durability.
• 110 Micron TPU Bladders: The Flexifoil Ion 5 uses 110micron TPU (Thermoplastic PolyUrethane) bladders as opposed to the standard 90 micron. This creates a more puncture resistant, longer lasting bladder.
• Molten Bladder Technology: This new bladder welding process has been tested up to a sweltering 120°C of heat without failing. No matter where in the world you choose to fly the Flexifoil Ion 5 Kite, you can be confident that heat won't affect the bladders.
• Solid & Stiff Wingtip Construction: Whether you are riding a storm on the 7m, battling gusts on a 10.5m or squeezing every last breath out of a lightwind session on the 14.5, every Flexifoil Ion 5 gives rock solid and dependable performance. The rigid structure makes the kite much less likely to deform whilst turning and with the kite holding its shape better, you get a much more direct and responsive feel.
• Reinforced Dacron 175 Leading Edge: The Flexifoil Ion 5 takes Dacron® Leading Edge construction to new levels of strength and durability. Inflation test results showed a 40% increase in the air pressure required to destroy the test samples.
• Dacron Reinforcements: The Flexifoil Ion 5 can generate a solid pull that is spread through carefully positioned reinforcements to the wingtips and down the lines to your bar, optimising strength and weight. The Dacron cage construction means that accidental canopy damage should be simple and cost effective to repair.
